JOE REDINGTON SR. JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL - WASILLA, AK

While the design team is not under the contractor’s control, this CM/GC contract for a 108,000 sq. ft. building is similar in nature to D/B. Collins Construction was brought in to work with the design team prior to the drawings being completed. This allowed our team to offer suggestions in materials and construction methods which resulted in significant reduction on cost. In August 2016, Redington was nationally recognized for the impressive price saving methods and was certified LEED Gold.

HOUSTON FIRE STATION 9-2 - HOUSTON, AK

In September of 2015, Collins Construction, Inc. (CCI) had the privilege to build Public Safety Building (PSB) 9-2 for the City of Houston. The 5,227 sf. ft. PSB was constructed through the harsh Alaska winter and was completed ahead of schedule. During construction, CCI made recommendations to the design team and owner, which have now allowed the owner to award alterations within the budget. Through this project we have gained a better understanding of how the facility operates, also what the end user requirements are.

IDITAROD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL- WASILLA, AK

This 51,000 sq. ft. school was successfully completed on time and under budget. Although this was not a Davis Bacon project, we believe that the design consistently continues to evolve during the construction phase. Our healthy relationship with the owner and design team allowed us to communicate efficiently and proactively to resolve any conflicts.

MACH 15.jpg

FRED AND SARA MACHENTANZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

This 53,000 sq. ft. school was built as the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified school in the state of Alaska and achieved a Silver certification.  In the case of Machetanz, the certification process was accomplished after the fact and as the Green Building Council was establishing the various ratings.  This effort took significant coordination between Collins Construction and McCool Carlson Green Architects. The best of current learning research was used while anticipating future trends in technology and education.  The schools learning signature “A center for creating community” extends beyond the physical walls of the facility to establish the school as a community asset and affirm it as a catalyst for the creation of healthy, viable neighborhoods.

The facility required very specific, industry-related elements in the construction process, which Collins Construction delivered.
